Pick which version everyone sees, and get closer to your work

An asset's variants can now take over the picture — or the clip — that everyone already sees, without a single link changing. The editor also got a new canvas you can zoom all the way into.

What's new:

• Set as Default, on any variant. One click makes a variant the version the asset shows. The one it replaces stays in the variants list, so you can put it back whenever you want.
• Nothing to re-share. Pages, documents, and decks that already use the asset pick up the new version on their own — nothing to re-copy, re-upload, or re-embed. Integrations and AI agents can set the default too, so an approved edit can go live without anyone opening Raster.
• Videos get variants too. A re-cut, a caption burn-in, a lighter delivery copy — a video now carries alternate versions the same way a photo does, with the same navigator, upload, archive, and download controls, and Set as Default works on it. A variant always matches the kind of media it belongs to, so a video never swaps in for a photo.
• Names that stay put. Promoting a variant carries its name onto the asset, and the version it replaced keeps the old one. The original renames inline too, with the same hover pencil every variant has.
• A canvas you can zoom into. Pinch or ⌘-scroll to zoom the editor, drag to pan, and click or press Z to jump between fit and full size. Motion carries its own momentum and settles at the edges, and the image resolves to real full-resolution detail as you go in.
• Everything about your videos. The details panel now reports codec, frame rate, bitrate, and the audio track alongside duration and dimensions — and those details come back over REST, GraphQL, and MCP as well.
